<image:title>About - Healing Through Movement</image:title>
<image:caption>Yoga is a way to dynamically embody your whole being. My teaching comes out of a precise, alignment-focused vinyasa lineage, with emphasis placed on inner listening and slowing into subtle shifts of your mind and heart. My approach to teaching is accessible and aims to be inclusive for all bodies in all forms.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I support people tuning in to their internal rhythms to facilitate more ease, wellbeing, and joy. I am in complete awe of each body’s innate wisdom and ability to heal, and am honored to be a part of the process. I am a collaborator, a witness, and a capacious listener here to support you on your journey being human. I am here to remind you that there is nothing to fix and you are perfectly whole as you are right now. You are the absolute expert on you and your lived experiences, and your body is inherently brilliant beyond any intellectual understanding. Your body is a vast storehouse of memories, encounters, and dreams. I believe that Chinese medicine, Somatic Experiencing, and the practice of yoga can facilitate another pathway to who you are and who you are becoming.</image:caption>

<image:title>Meet Kate</image:title>
<image:caption>Healing is not linear—sometimes frustratingly so!—and yet because of the meandering route you may be taking, there are many entry points for better understanding what’s going on as well as numerous possibilities for change. I firmly believe in meeting you where you are in each session and moving at the pace of your body’s trust. My practice is trauma-informed with an anti-oppressive lens. I am committed to a lifelong process of growth that recognizes healing and justice cannot be separated. In co-creating a healthier environment for healing, I hold a radically expansive vision for what is possible in our world. My path is one of detours and serendipities—perhaps much like yours. Before becoming a Doctor of Chinese medicine I taught yoga and mindfulness practices to young people in schools and community organizations all over NYC, and then trained folks all over the country, too. It was through my students’ insightful questions and reflections that I came to study Chinese medicine. After working as an acupuncturist for several years, I noticed many patients were seeking respite from overwhelming experiences that were presenting with a dizzying array of symptoms. They felt disjointed and discombobulated, but also knew somewhere inside that it didn’t have to be this way. I recognized the echoes of how I had come to Somatic Experiencing myself. SE reminds me our bodies are steadfast in their orientation toward healing.</image:caption>

<image:title>Chinese Medicine - What To Expect</image:title>
<image:caption>Your first appointment will begin with a thorough conversation and deep listening—you sharing your story and how you are needing support. We will discuss your medical history in depth in order to get the fullest picture of who you are right now, and together we will create a map forward. You don’t need to be sick or have a diagnosis to receive acupuncture—Chinese medicine excels as preventative medicine, soothing your system before issues arise. Many patients are looking for relief from the relentless pace of our times, and know that by taking care of themselves now, they are supporting their vibrant wellbeing in the future. Chinese medicine is an excellent addition alongside Western medical treatment and using both approaches can often work hand in hand to support your health.</image:caption>

<image:title>Somatic Experiencing - What is Somatic Experiencing?</image:title>
<image:caption>Somatic Experiencing (SE) reminds us that trauma often lives on in the body and our nervous system is designed to guide us back toward equilibrium. Humans have an instinctual capacity to heal and I believe it is each person’s birthright to be able to live more wholly as themselves. Somatic Experiencing supports you in staying present in overwhelming environments and situations, increasing your ability to regulate your emotional landscape, holding appropriate boundaries, noticing urgency and speed in the body, and providing a sense of ground within. This is a modality that deepens your own potential for recovery and resilience. By giving your body and nervous system the time & space it needs to process and honor the pain it has experienced, you will be able to step into your own vibrancy and connect more fully to the vitality of your loved ones, community, and world around you.
